One problem (well not PROBLEM, just “notable thingie”) is that after opening a Cracker tour, a girl’s brain just MIGHT be on 24 Hour 100% Cracker Radio for a long time.

And . . said girl might be unthinkingly (but audibly) singing under her breath, “What the world needs now, is a new Frank Sinatra . . . ET CETERA” while waiting on the hotel clerk to make her a new room key.

And the clerk might look at her like a deer in headlights and she might blush and run away, but WITHOUT the key, at which point she has to come BACK to the front desk, where afore mentioned clerk is still . . . just standing there, staring. (PS This is only funny if you know the lyrics to that song, otherwise SORRY)

I have a bit of heartache. I don’t really want to go home . . . I’ve come to rely on the sense of well being I get listening to “All Her Favorite Fruit” every night. I will miss my Cracker friends.

That being said, I’m clocking in at 0 MPH in the synapse firing department, and I could use about 72 hours of good old fashioned sack time.

Besides the incredibly warm welcome & lovely audience in Omaha last night, something else awesome happened. Johnny Hickman gave me a hair cut and I love it!

There’s a rumor floating around that he picked up this skill while in prison, but don’t believe it. It was just county jail.

So cold is it in this state (as in: 13 below zero) that I actually start to get frantic seeing people on the street, like being outside for any length of time in Sioux Falls in roughly tantamount to being seconds away from the business end of a freight train. Last night at the club, I yelled, OH MY GOD YOU NEED WARMER COATS at 3 (lovely) ladies dressed for an evening out. I like to humiliate myself regularly.

Well, I had big plans to stay in Duluth for my day off today. Sadly, I met my first mean midwesterner, and double sadly she is the day manager at this hotel. She practically ate my face when I asked to stay another night. “We have someone ready to get in that room!!” she said (shouted).

Evidently, the Queen of England is waiting for me to vacate room 218 and there is simply NO OTHER POSSIBILITY AT ALL. Maybe I look like someone who cut her off in traffic or something. Anyway – to South Dakota I go. Duluth, I’ll see you again. What a lovely, lovely town you have here. And with the glaring exception of Chelley The Profoundly Unhappy Hotel Lady, you are some VERY nice folks and I had a great time!
